Sanctions on Russian athletes have seriously challenged Russian sports federations. Secretary General of Russian Boxing Federation Tatiana Kirienko has told us about prospects for the 2024 Olympics and international sports contacts within the 10th International Forum "Russia — Country of Sports".
– With what difficulties has RBF faced since the sanctions have started? Please rank them in order of priority (inability to participate in international competitions, cancellation of international competitions in Russia, equipment for athletes, medical support, work with sponsors, etc.).
- We faced only one main problem — the inability to participate in international competitions, but this problem for domestic boxing is already behind us. On October 5, the board of directors of the IBA (International Boxing Association) voted to cancel the previous decision and allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to international competitions. There are no problems with equipment. We have excellent domestic manufacturers of equipment, boxing equipment and equipment. Excellent medical and scientific services, bases for athletes — all this is at the highest level in Russia. There is a problem with showing Olympic boxing on television. But we are working on this issue, organizing new large-scale tournaments with channel naming and finding support from our partners.
– What do you think Russian Olympic Movement will look like in the nearest future? How will the interaction with the IOC look like?
- We do not feel any discouragement, because the IOC does not consist of only one person. It's a huge family with many committees. Already, everyone has changed their point of view as much as possible and realized that without Russian athletes, sport is not sport. The huge impact of politics and sanctions is fundamentally not true. We hope that justice will prevail in the near future and there are trends towards this.
– We understand that you as the head of the Federation carry out the planned preparation of athletes for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, but how do you realistically assess the chances of Russian athletes participating in the upcoming Games, since various scenarios are possible: a neutral flag, competing as independent athletes?
- We are confident that Russian athletes will take part in the Olympic Games. We have not canceled all our plans, as we continued to work in this direction, and continue to do so. We are trying various preparation options for the national teams, the teams did not lose. There is confidence in Russia's participation in the Olympic Games!

– How have your personal contacts with foreign figures in the field of sports changed?
- We maintain close contact with the federations of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia ... There are a lot of federations and countries with which we have long established friendly relations. Connections in boxing are very close and friendly around the world and have nothing to do with politics.
