The International Canoe Federation and British Canoeing are delighted to announce that the Iranian Canoe, Sailing and Rowing Federation is to be the first nation to benefit from the recently launched International Partnership Programme (IPP).

This programme is the result of the combined efforts of Dr Cecilia Farias (Vice President of the ICF), and British Canoeing who have teamed together to plan, develop and deliver the Programme to support the development of National Federations (NFs) within the ICF. The Programme benefits from the financial support and experience of UK Sport’s International Relations department who have run a number of similar programmes with other sports.

The IPP aims to inspire and support National Canoeing Federations around the world to improve their governance, strategic planning and sport delivery, so that by 2024 there are more participants, members and more countries entering athletes into international competitions.

Delivery of the programme will commence in 2022 by Webinar but it is hoped that some face to face delivery can take place later if Coronavirus restrictions permit.

Dr Cecilia Farias ICF Vice President commented,

“The ICF is delighted that the Iranian Canoe, Sailing and Rowing Federation are taking part in this new programme. Our hope is that with improved governance, strategic planning and sport delivery more National Federations can join the worldwide growth of canoeing and improved international performances."

David Joy, Chief Executive of British Canoeing commented:

“British Canoeing is delighted to be supporting the International Partnerships Programme and we are looking forward to working with the team in Iran next year. We share the ambition of the ICF to support the sharing of knowledge to strengthen the organisational health of national federations.
We hope that this will lead in time to the growth and development of individual federations and to more paddlers from more nations competing in national and international events.”

Dr Sohrabian, President of the Iranian Canoe, Sailing and Rowing Federation commented:

“This is an exciting opportunity for canoeing in Iran. We are keen to learn from other nations and improve our overall delivery of the sport along with achieving increased International success. We would like to thank the ICF, British Canoeing and UK Sport for supporting us.”

Все это лишь еще раз доказывает, что спорт должен оставаться вне политики. К сожалению, чаще всего это просто слова.
