Dinara Sadykova: We did not notice any changes in the work of RUSADA

Suspension of Russian athletes has strongly affected all aspects of country’s sports system and doping wasn’t an exception. Within the 10th International Forum "Russia — Country of Sports" anti-doping support specialist of Russian Boxing Federation Dinara Sadykova has told us about how RUSADA and national sports federations are working in the lack of international competitions and what plans and goals do they have for the nearest future.

How has the political situation in the world affected the work of your organization?
We did not notice any changes in the work of RUSADA and did not feel it in practice. Absolutely full-time and systematic work is being carried out to prevent and combat doping in sports, in our case, in boxing. All joint events planned at the end of 2021 are being held on time. The ADAMS system also works properly. Athletes included in testing pools continue to complete their profiles in full. All this is done to determine the scope and schedule of out-of-competition testing of athletes by RUSADA or ITA, IBA. Out-of-competition testing of our athletes continues to be carried out in any corner of our country, and in any country in the world, regardless of the agenda.

– What are your main aims and directions of work in the lack of international competitions?
At the moment, according to the Anti-Doping Strategy for 2021-2025 adopted by the Russian Boxing Federation, we have identified education as the main direction of our work. Improving anti-doping awareness and, as a result, compliance with anti-doping rules are our priority goals, which RUSADA and ROC employees are actively helping us to achieve.

– To what extent do you think your educational programs have influenced the awareness of people involved in sports about doping? How can these programs be improved?
At RUSADA, employees of the Department of Educational Programs regularly hold various events to collect feedback from participants in educational anti-doping programs. In turn, the anti-doping coordinator, communicating with the target audience, evaluates the most painful points, identifies problematic issues, evaluates the forms of presentation of the material and the efficiency of information perception. All analytical conclusions and wishes are necessarily discussed together with the staff of the RUSADA education department. In the nearest future, we are waiting for another tool “for precise and targeted tuning” of interaction between the sports community and educational content creators, we are waiting for the RUSADA Ambassadors project to reveal its potential. This interesting project should definitely contribute to the optimization of the anti-doping educational process. In general, all stages of anti-doping education should be dynamic and flexible in order to meet the needs of the audience as much as possible.
How do you think to what extent educational programs have influenced the awareness of people involved in sports about doping issues?
- At present, it is too early to assess how the educational programs have influenced and what has changed — the process is large-scale in terms of the number of participants, the heterogeneity of target audiences and the starting educational level. We are still at the beginning of this path, there are difficulties and obstacles that we are gradually overcoming all together, we are working on the mistakes and moving on. It must be remembered that the Russian Boxing Federation fully shares the position of zero tolerance for doping in sports. It was so before, it is now and it will be so tomorrow, regardless of any external and internal factors. Only fair play and clean sport!

Все это лишь еще раз доказывает, что спорт должен оставаться вне политики. К сожалению, чаще всего это просто слова.
