On June 22 the 140th IOC Session was held. The issues of suspension of Russian athletes and IBA recognition were discussed. The main results are the following:
▪️ International Boxing Association is expelled from the Olympic Movement. For the first time in history IOC expells sporting govering body. It was finally decided on voting process, where 69 members voted "for", one — "against" and ten did abstain. Still IOC President Thomas Bach confirmed that boxing will remain at the 2024 and 2028 Olympics.
As for the situation with Russian and Belarusian athletes Bach also has made some comments.
▪️ He claimed that Russia and Ukraine's views are both diametrically opposed to IOC position. "Russia wants to ingnore the conflict and Ukraine wants to isolate everyone with Russian and Belarusian passport" — said Bach
▪️ Bach also thanked International Fencing Federation and World Taekwondo for allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete. He also criticised Polish Government for not giving visas to russians and belarusians for European Fencing Championship. This Championship was later moved to Bulgaria.
▪️ Bach also mentioned that IOC is yet to decide on whether Russian and Belarusian athletes will compete at 2024 Olympic in Paris.
